Who Is Niber Technologies

Niber Technologies, a pioneering deep-tech textile manufacturing company, specializes in the mass production of 100% PFAS-free waterproof breathable membranes. Commonly referred to as "forever chemicals," Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) are persistent chemicals found in textiles that can last for hundreds of thousands of years. Through a hybrid electrospinning process powered by nanotechnology, Niber Technologies develops advanced, sustainable materials without compromising product quality. Beyond textiles, Niber Technologies aims to transform multiple sectors with its revolutionary PFAS-free materials, driving innovation and delivering significant value to society.

Why We Invested

"It is incredibly exciting to see that a sustainable technology with the potential to be applied to so many different use cases at a global scale has come from the Philippines”

- Jelmer Ikink, Managing Partner

The Market: The market for a company like Niber Technologies is expanding rapidly. As global awareness and caution about environmental impact grow, consumer demand for sustainable products is increasing, alongside more stringent government regulations. A prime example is the regulatory push in select EU and US states to ban PFAS in all products and textiles by 2025.

Currently, around 75% of goods that claim to be waterproof utilize PFAS to achieve this desired characteristic. However, Niber Technologies' revolutionary technology allows them to mass produce PFAS-free materials while improving the quality of product they are making.

We view the future of Niber Technologies as promising due to their unique ability to address this critical gap in the textiles market, already securing interest from major market players.

The Company: Niber Technologies has pioneered a method for creating their nanofiber materials using a hybrid electrospinning process. This innovative technology not only allows for the production of sustainable products but also enhances their quality. While other PFAS-free alternatives often compromise performance, Niber Technologies' material is three times lighter yet equally durable, twelve times more abrasion-resistant, stretchable in four directions, and resistant to both heat and cold. The company plans to grow beyond the textile world, with multiple use cases in various fields including EV batteries, wound dressings, EMI shields, and more.

Niber Technologies' Philippine operations are based out of First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE) in Dasmariñas, Cavite, a joint project of the National Development Company, Marubeni Corporation, and Japan International Development Organization. Niber Technologies successfully follows FCIE’s mission to house progressive technology-related enterprises creating job opportunities, stimulating economic activity, and promoting sustainability.

The Founders: While Jae H. Park and Jae M. Park founded Niber Technologies in 2019, it was not their first introduction to the textile industry. They grew up surrounded by the textile industry, propelling their interest in the sector. From the very beginning, it was clear to us that they were very passionate about this project, spending almost five years developing and perfecting their product. Spending all this time and effort into Niber Technologies, they were able to create a revolutionary product from the Philippines that has an impact on a global scale. Crucially, their partnership as co-founders has been instrumental in their success, each complementing the other seamlessly.
